Lwengo police have arrested six people accused of lynching a man for cautioning them against partying during curfew time.
Muhammad Nsubuga, the Masaka Region Police Spokesperson says the suspects ganged up against Elias Kiweewa, a resident of the Central zone in Kyazanga town Council when he approached them on Sunday night while partying with loud music.
The more than 20 revelers first insulted Kiweewa before they clobbered him with clubs.
According to eyewitnesses, the group scattered immediately after realizing that Kiweewa had breathed his last. Police were called to the scene to retrieve the body, which they later hand over to the deceased’s family after postmortem.
Nsubuga says that police picked up the suspects on separate days and charged them with murder, adding that they will appear in court when their file is ready.
Nsubuga has also warned residents to be vigilant about anonymous letters being circulated by unidentified people in Greater Masaka asking them to send money or else risk being killed.
