The police at Lwengo are searching for assailants who gruesomely murdered of a 60-year-old catechist.
The deceased is identified as Richard Mbaziira, a resident of Kyaboggo village, Nkoni parish, Kkingo sub-county. The victim was home alone on Sunday night when unknown assailants broke in and killed him but his body was found lying behind his house, around 10 am on Monday morning.
He was secretary for the catechist committee at Nkoni catholic Parish.
According Muhammad Nsubuga the Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, the unknown assailants hit the deceased on the head with a blunt object several times and left his body in the backyard.
He added that they have begun investigations to bring the culprits to book.
He says no arrest has been made so far but inquiries are ongoing.
Mbaziira becomes the tenth murder victim in Lwengo district by unknown assailants in a space of two months.
He has been described as a humble person who never had a grudge with anyone.
