The opposition Forum for Democratic Change, FDC party has demanded for a transparent and honest investigation into the throwing of bombs around the country and other violent murders.

While addressing the media at the party head offices in Najjanankumbi on Monday, the party spokesperson Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said there is need for an external body because in the past some of the law enforcement agencies have been involved in such criminality.

He noted that Police and UPDF led investigations may not give the country accurate report once some of their officers are involved.

“But most important, the country has a duty to audit the functioning of its security agencies. Was there laxity. Are our agencies well facilitated and prepared? And of course we caution Mr. Museveni not to use the bombs to cramp down on his opponents” Nganda said.

He further noted that they believe Makindye West MP Hon. Allan Ssewanyana and Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya are victims of their political beliefs.

Hon. Nganda says the duo is not in prison because of murder and terrorism but because government must find someone to blame.

“If it is not Rwanda, it is the opposition and its backers from outside the country. And Museveni makes these pronouncements even before investigations are done” Nganda added.

On Monday, the National Unity Platform, another opposition party also demanded that the investigation department must receive enough facilitation in order to be able to thoroughly investigate the terror attacks and other crimes that have been happening in the country.
