Residents arrest man for theft of a truck in Bugweri

Officers at Busia Central Police Station have in custody one Juma Igulu, a resident of Bugweri district for allegedly stealing a tipper truck registration number UAU 038F belonging to Laban Wandera, the Dabani Sub-county LC V councilor.

Officers at Busia Central Police Station have in custody one Juma Igulu, a resident of Bugweri district for allegedly stealing a tipper truck registration number UAU 038F belonging to Laban Wandera, the Dabani Sub-county LC V councilor. 

Wandera reported theft of the vehicle from his home in Buwuma village in Dabani Sub-county. 

According to the owner he woke up to the sound of the vehicle being taken by thugs at around 4:00 am. He then reported the incident to Dabani police station and immediately started mobilizing his colleagues to help him to recover the vehicle. 

They then chased the thugs prompting them to abandon the truck on the roadside in Nankoma trading center in Mayuge district.

However, Wandera and his colleagues alerted locals who started drumming and used megaphones to mobilize a hunt for the suspects. 

Residents were able to apprehend Igulu, who they found hiding in a rice garden in the swamp in Nankoma village with several keys. 

According to Didas Byaruhanga the Busia District Police Commander, the suspect will help police inquiries into the matter.
