The territorial Police at Entebbe have arrested one person in connection with murder by arson of Nyakuni Margaret Onzia, 66, the deputy director of Uganda Nurses and Midwife Council, Kampala, and a resident of Bugonga in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday at her residence in Bugonga.
Police together with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire Deputy PRO KMP, police arrested the deceased’s son, one ASP Edward Bua, 38, a lawyer, and police officer who allegedly locked his mother inside the bedroom before locking the main house and later setting it ablaze at around 3am this morning. Upon his arrest, a matchbox was recovered on him.
ASP Bua is currently detained at Entebbe Police Station as investigations go on to ascertain his motive. The body of Nyakuni has been conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem
