Police has revealed that the vicious accident that claimed three lives on Tuesday night in Bukedea district was caused by human error.
On that fateful night at about 10:00 pm, two buses, a Gateway Nissan UAH 781Z and Wanagon Isuzu Coach UAR 293M collided near Opiko stage in Kachumbala Sub County. The accident occurred when the Wanagon Coach returning to Soroti from Kampala rammed into the Gateway Bus was headed for Kampala from Moroto.
Faridah Nampiima, the Uganda Traffics Police Spokesperson says the Gateway Bus driver caused the accident as he failed to negotiate a corner hence the head on collusion.
She adds that 40 people were injured in the process and have since been rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. They include 25 male adults, ten female adults, four male juveniles, and one female juvenile.
Three others were confirmed dead, two male adults who died on spot and another female adult on her way to Kumi Orthopedic Hospital.

The vehicle Reg No UBK077S was carrying thirteen people on board when its car tyre burst along the highway.
On May 17, 2022, three people died on spot after a taxi traveling to Kampala from Masindi lost control and overturned at Migyera town.
The taxi tyre burst, causing it to lose control and overturn severally. The injured were rushed to nearby health centres for first aid treatment.
