Gen Elly Tumwine will be buried on Tuesday at Mukuru, Rwemikoma Sub County , Kazo district.
A national requiem mass for the late general is being held at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala ahead of his burial.
The ceremony is attended by invited members of the public, several government officials, the Military, and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the chief mourner and his wife Janet Kataha Museveni.
Gen Tumwine succumbed to lung cancer on Thursday last week in Nairobi and his body was returned to the Country on Friday evening.
Ahead of his burial tomorrow, security has been beefed up in and around his residence in Kazo.
Sources that prefer anonymity state that up to four security checkpoints have been erected from the main road to the deceased’s home with at least 2 police officers backed by 3 to 5 UPDF soldiers.
Tumwine’s body is expected to arrive in Kazo district at around 3:00 PM today in a helicopter set to land at Rwemikoma Primary School playground.
Ham Tusiime, the LC 1 chairperson of Mukuru village, says that the heavy deployment around the Mukuru Village might scare away some mourners.
He says that during their preparatory meeting they had planned for about 6000 people but the number might reduce due to the deployment.
