The police have mounted a manhunt on an unidentified driver under Gateway Bus Company who fell asleep on the job, swerved off the road and rammed into a house, injuring dozens of people critically.
According to Diana Nandawula, the Elgon Regional Police spokesperson the accident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday at around 4:00am at Nakaloke Town Council in Mbale leaving Twenty six admitted in Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
Nandawula explains that the Gateway bus, registration number UAS 042A was travelling from Moroto to Kampala, when it rammed into the house belonging to a one Sebuyayi, leaving him and three of his other family members critically injured by the falling debris, while 22 passengers were also injured, four of them critically.
However, the bus of this ill-fated bus took off, moment after he was cut from the wreckage of the bus. Nandawula says they will not stop, until he is brought to justice.
