Women rights activist and former Ethics minister Miria Matembe says next month’s presidential elections have already been rigged and going to polls will be a wastage of time.
Matembe was this morning appearing on a local TV station for an interview when she said the current electoral commission cannot be trusted as it is full of government agents.
She argues, “The electoral commission of Kiggundu and Sam Rwakoojo is the chief agent of President Museveni. We all know why they were appointed.”
Matembe says the election was rigged at the time of voter registration when foreigners were registered to take part in the February 18th elections.
The former minister says the newly acquired technology of Biometric Voter Registration System will not help as Electoral officials have not been trained fully and system hasn't been tested.
About the presidential debate, the iron lady proposed that the audience be given a chance to shoot the questions. “Next time, the debate should take questions from audience. Candidate-to-candidate interaction ought to be more.”
