The opposition democratic party, DP has decried a continued crackdown on its supporters.
Addressing the media at the party offices in Kampala this morning, Paul Kenneth Kakakande, the party spokesperson said one of their own security officers, Shafic Onek was arrested on Sunday night.
According to Kakande, Shafic was arrested on suspicion that he had a gun, and was ordered to surrender it, in vain.
He says DP is not some military force and they do not keep or sell guns. He advised the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kale Kayihura to release their member claiming he is the sole bread winner for his family.
This comes at the time when the FDC presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has spent three weeks at his house without being allowed to leave.
The police however insist the iron man is not under house arrest.
