Government has slapped a ban on all media houses from broadcasting live coverage of opposition activities taking place in the country.

The development has this morning been announced by the information and national guidance minister Jim Muhwezi.

He says Uganda had an election, and those who were not satisfied went to court - and it pronounced itself. He adds that Court has said no one should continue with this defiance campaign and Ugandans must all oblige."

Muhwezi says "according to this court order, even talk shows" in line with the defiance campaign have been barred.

The mister warns that any media house that continues to broadcast or report about today’s activities risks having license revoked."

The development comes after FDC announced a countrywide protest dubbed free my vote to sabotage the swearing in ceremony of President Museveni on 12th May.

Muhwezi says; "Live proceedings mean you open the door to whoever is talking, and you will have no control over what he is going to say. There you will become an accomplice, and will be guilty like he/she is."

Media houses will be closed, social media activists arrested and prosecuted, and individuals too who report on defiance prosecuted as per the new directives.
