Kabale Chief magistrate Moses Ntende Kagoda has adjourned to 8th August 2016, a case in which former presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye and five others are accused of inciting violence.
Court heard that Besigye alongside, Erias Lukwago, Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa, Imam Makumbi, Roland Kaginda, and Ingrid Turinawe incited violence at Kabale Municipality stadium on 14th July 2012 by asking public to attack the police.
One of state witnesses, ASP Isaac Mugisha who was then a part of police standard unit in Kabale told court that the opposition leaders called the public to rally against the police and vandalized two police cars before injuring four police officers.
However, during today’s sitting, the state prosecutor, Judith Nyamwiza told the chief magistrate that three of their five witnesses are yet to testify.
Kagoda then told prosecution to bring the witness before court on 8th August 2016 without fail. He argued that the accused come from far and the case has dragged for long.
Besigye described the entire allegations as baseless. He was then welcomed by thousands of people who hit the streets upon the adjournment.
Besigye later tweeted that; “People of Kabale are still very strong. We're chanting & singing about determination to regain their victory &power!”
