Uganda’s candidate in the African Union commission race, former vice President Specioza Wandira is still competing for the same seat after the election was postponed to January next year.
The development comes after the three candidates in the race, Uganda’s Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe, Botswana’s Dr. Ms. Pelonomi Venson and Equatorial Guinea’s Agapito Mba Mokuy failed to hit the require 2/3 of the vote.

Sam Kuteesa, Uganda’s foreign Affairs minister issued a statement explaining that all the three contenders are still in the race until the next election is held in January 2016 during the AU Summit in Addis Ababa.
In today’s elections, Uganda’s former and first female vice President Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe managed to scoop only 11 votes, Botswana’s current Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr Ms Pelonomi Venson garnered 16 votes, while Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy garnered 12 votes.
Also, the election was cancelled after 28 Countries abstained in the 7th and final round of voting. 15 ECOWAS countries boycotted the African Union Commission Elections this morning and other countries joined in.
