Former FDC presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye is at his home in Kasangati.
Besigye was this morning arrested and whisked away by police from Entebbe International airport after landing aboard Kenya Airways.
FDC officials who had showed up at the Airport to welcome him were denied access to the VIP lounge, only for passengers who were with Besigye on the same plane to tell them that he had been arrested.
Kampala Lord Mayor broke the News of Besigye’s arrest to the press, saying they did not know where the opposition ironman had been taken to.
Later, it emerged that Besigye was taken home, and has called a press conference. Initially, the plan was for him to address the press at the Airport upon arrival.
Prior to the events, police warned the public and FDC officials against going to the airport or involving themselves in any activities to do with Besigye’s return.
