Scandals are part of each year’s news cycle and 2017 is no exception. Many celebs saw more than their fair share of scandals in 2017.
Diamond Platinumz’s cheating
Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platinumz and socialite, Zari Hassan almost fell apart this year due to cheating. Diamond strayed from their bed and had a baby with a video vixen, Hamisa Mobetto. When the news leaked, the media ran berserk. Things got even more heated up when a list of other women came up to claim that they had Diamond’s children. He has been linked to several women in different countries. This has kept the rumour mill in overdrive throughout the year.
Chameleone and Daniella Divorce
When Daniella filed for divorce, some people quickly dismissed the move as a stunt by singer Jose Chameleone to promote his show at Cricket Oval, Lugogo then. The self-proclaimed music doctor, however, confirmed in an interview that Daniella had indeed filed for divorce. He said, “Yes, Daniella was serious about leaving. I was treating her badly and she was fed up.”
Daniella packed her bags and went back to her father’s home in Mutungo. Chameleone’s former friend, Sipapa later alleged that he was supporting Daniella financially while Chameleone was on cheating sprees. An exchange of words between Chameleone and Sipapa broke out and up to now, they don’t see eye to eye. Chameleone called Sipapa a burglar and also accused him of feeding his wife with lies. The couple later sorted out their issues and they are now happily married.
Godfrey Massa nabbed with prostitute
Former Uganda Cranes captain Geoffrey Massa was nabbed by police bonking a prostitute near Mandela National Stadium Namboole. Police said their officers on night patrol found a car suspiciously parked on the Northern Bypass section near the stadium and when they approached to speak to the occupants, the driver whom they later learned was Massa sped away. Police chased and opened fire with the intent of deflating the tyres. Instead, a bullet ripped through the body of the vehicle and injured 25-year-old Josephine Maliza, a worker at Victoria bar, Kireka. What was discussed most was not the incident itself but the lady’s beauty. She looked like a woman who has been picked from a horror movie. With all his money and fame, many wondered why Massa couldn’t, at least, find a better woman.
Iryn Ntale fighting Swangz artistes
Singer Iryn Ntale quit Muyenga based Swangz Avenue early this year. After few months, she started feuding with her former manager Veronica alias Vinka. It is reported that when Ntale learned that Vinka was joining the music industry under the same label, she lost her cool. She later picked a fight with singer Winnie Nwagi on Snapchat. Nwagi called Ntale a bitch. It is reported that Ntale is jealous of Winnie Nwagi's meteoric rise in the music industry.
Kanyamunyu incident
Mathew Kanyamunyu became an overnight celebrity after he was accused of killing a social worker Kenneth Akena.
Police officers later told the family of Kenneth Akena who was allegedly shot dead by Matthew Kanyamunyu at Game Stores in Lugogo, that the bullet that killed their relative was fired at close range. Kanyamunyu denies the allegations, saying although he had an exchange with the deceased over ramming into his car, he did not harm him. Kanyamunyu claims that his only crime was taking Akena to hospital after he was shot. High Court judge Wilson Kwesiga Matthew granted Kanyamunyu bail and he is still battling the case of murder.
