It has been almost two weeks since Elias Nalukoola was announced as the winner of the Kawempe North MP by-election by the Electoral Commission.
However, the NUP representative has not yet been sworn in by Parliament to begin his legislative duties and representation of his constituents.
It is alleged that his name has not been gazetted by the Electoral Commission, and Parliament cannot swear him in without official authorization from the commission.
Now, Kalifah Aganaga, who also participated in the election on an FDC ticket, has asked the authorities to expedite Nalukoola's swearing-in.
He threatened to rally constituents and protest against the Electoral Commission if Nalukoola is not sworn in by the end of this week.
"Let the man be sworn in and start his duties as the MP for our constituency. He is the one our people chose, and that should be respected. I will soon call for a protest with my constituents if he is not in office by the end of this week," he explained while addressing party members in Kampala.
