The speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has directed the Clerk to deduct 500,000 Sillings from every Member of Parliament towards supporting the Uganda Cranes at AFCON.
The speaker made the directive during the first 2017 plenary sitting on Tuesday morning. She was honoring the team for winning the award of best team in Africa at the 2016 Glo CAF Awards in Nigeria.
The speaker also honored Dennis Onyango, Ugandan Goal keeper who was awarded for being the best player based in Africa. The Uganda Cranes will on Tuesday January 17th 2017 play their first Afcon match against the Black Stars of Ghana at Port Gentil stadium in Gabo.
With 500,000 shillings from each of the 427 MPs, the national team will raise 213,500,000 Shillings.
The Speaker congratulated the Uganda Cranes and Dennis Onyango for the accolades received at the CAF Awards recently.
