Makerere University students were left in utter shock as their fellow student collapsed during an examination session and was later pronounced dead after few hours.
Joan Nakalembe, a first-year student, fainted during a psychology course unit exam, according to Jackson Muchunguzi, the Head of Security at Makerere University.
“We rushed her to the university hospital but the doctors instead referred her to Kiruddu Hospital in Makindye after realising she was bleeding heavily. By the time, her parents had been contacted. It is sad that she died on the way,”
According to an eyewitness, Nakalembe asked for permission to get out during the exam but didn’t return. It was later discovered in the urinals vomiting blood before being rushed to the University hospital where she was moments later pronounced dead.
Close sources to the deceased indicate that she complained of a stomach ache, which first caused authorities to suspect poison.
