One person is in Police custody at Butenga in Bukomansimbi are holding for allegedly strangling his colleague to death.
40 year old Charles Katongole, a resident of Kasambya village, in Kibinge Sub County in Bukomansimbi district was arrested for allegedly murdering George Sserugo.
The unfortunate incident happened after a bar brawl where Sserugo reportedly assaulted Katongole accusing him of being a cannibal on Sunday.
It is reported that Sserugo moved out of the bar first following the assault, before he waited for Katongole on his way back home strangling him to death.
According to one of the residents identified as Amos Mujuni, they were shocked to land on the body of Sserugo at the roadside with marks of fingers on his neck.
Residents reported the matter to the village authorities who called police which took the deceased’s body to Butenga health center IV for postmortem.
According to Lameck Kigozi, the southern region police spokesperson, police has started recording statements from people that were at the bar during the duo‘s bitter exchange of words.
However, residents have asked Kibinge sub county authorities to enforce by-laws established on operation of bars and betting in their area.
