It’s no surprise at this point in her career but Lupita Nyong’o is one heck of an actress. However, while taking to the ‘gram this weekend, the actress shared that she’s not just a one-trick pony.
In an Instagram clip, the actress surprises everyone by showing off the fact that she can in fact drop a mean freestyle too.
Introducing her alter ego, “Troublemaker,” the 33-year-old freestyles over Nas’s classic hit, “NY State of Mind.”
The choice to rap and have a little fun was inspired by celebrating reaching the 3-million mark as far as followers go on Instagram. For her debut as a rapper, it’s pretty impressive.
“Mexican born, Kenya running through my veins/Dark chocolate, plus I keep a sharp mane/Lancôme fresh-faced, looking tailor-made/Disney on the books, so you know I stay paid,” the actress raps during the clip.
Throughout the all-too-brief video of Nyong’o showing off her skills as an emcee, the actress touches on her acting career, being fluent in four languages and how she’s working to save the Earth. Sounds like many of today's best rappers could benefit from taking a page out of her book, at least as far as lyrical content goes.
