The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye said he felt demeaned by NBS reporter Canary Mugume after he called him out for not doing his job in the police force.
During the scuffle between People Power supporters and Police on Monday at Kasagati in Kampala, Canary Mugume dared Asan Kasigye to bring sanity in the Police force. Canary said the police officers were acting unprofessional.
"You hold the 3rd biggest rank in Police. (AIGP), we want to know if you can use that position to transform others below you, to believe in humanity once again," he tweeted.
This didn't go well with the respected police officer who advised Canary to accord him some respect.
"By the time he was deamening me, the police Spokesperson was having a press conference in our Board room and NBS TV was fully in Attendance. I didn't deserve to be demeaned in any way by any NBS TV Reporter or Journalist over an issue he could request his colleagues to ask the Police Spokesperson," Asan Kasigye tweeted.
Canary Mugume later apologized saying he didn't mean to tarnish his name.
"Apologies Asan, you are my friend and I didn't mean to demean you as you put it. Peace," he replied to Asan Kasigye's tweet.
