A body of an unidentified man has been recovered by Fishermen and police from Lake Albert in Buliisa district.
According to eye witnesses, fishermen saw the body floating near Butiaba landing site in Butiaba Sub County in Buliisa district around 7 pm on Tuesday evening and immediately alerted Marine police, which swung into action and helped retrieve the body.
According to Julius Hakiza the Albertine Region police spokesperson, the body is currently lying at Buliisa general hospital pending postmortem and positive identification.
Hakiza says that should someone fail to claim the body, they will arrange with residents to bury it. The deceased could have been a fisherman from another landing site and could have drowned while fishing.
Several people have drowned while fishing in the recent past, especially those who hit the lake alone at night.
