NUP's General Secretary David Lewis Rubongoya, who was arrested earlier today on charges of threatening violence on Health Minister Dr. Jane Aceng, has been released on bond.

Police, through its Deputy Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed that Rubongoya was being held at Natete police station, where he was re-arrested after being released from the Wandegeya Police post.

NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi did not have kind words for the Police trashing the case pinned on Rubongoya as fake.

Ssenyonyi said the Police should have arrested all NUP members who were in Omoro County campaigning for Simon Tolit Akecha instead of targeting only one of their members.

The Police, however, noted that Rubongoya's arrest was due to an incident in which he and his driver followed Dr. Aceng with the intention to intimidate and threaten her.

Rubongoya shared the news of his release on Twitter after placing the bond at 7:25 pm.
