Outgoing Forum for Democratic Change, FDC party president Rtd. Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu is not leaving the party, but rather seeking to hold dialogue with his rival Patrick Amuriat’s camp and the rest of party supporters across the country.
Muntu made the announcement this morning at Hotel Africana.
Flanked by leader of opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza, opposition whip Ssemujju Nganda, acting party president Alice Alaso, Kasese MP Robert Centenary, Ibrahim Kasozi, Gerald Karuhanga, Angelina osege, Atkins Katushabe, among other legislators as well as his campaign team, Muntu said whatever the outcome of the consultation with party supporters which he says might go on until end of December, Ugandans should put their country ahead of party.
He acknowledged that there’s divisionism in the party which was evident even before the hotly contested election, and they would need to dialogue in order to beat the dictator, President Yoweri Museveni who has ruled the country for over 30 years.“I am a tr
ansparent person, honest and a democrat. In whatever I do, I will make sure it benefits FDC and this country. Even if I left politics, I would still be giving advice to people in parties” Muntu said.
He says whether in one party or two, Ugandans need to create a political climate that is comfortable for everyone. He will keep pushing the system until there’s open gap. “Yes there will be sacrifices, fortunately in politics, you are sacrificed politically, but in war you die” he added.
