Hillary Kiyaga alias Dr. Hilderman is one of the many artists that made it to Parliament, thanks to the People Power wave.
The Mawokota North MP wants organizers of weddings and other related events to pay royalties for songs played at their functions.
According to Dr. Hilderman, artists deserve to earn whenever their music is played at events.
He says he is planning to present the bill on the floor of Parliament.
“We shall present the bill on the floor very soon,” he said in an interview.
Dr. Hilderman Kiyaga says the bill seeks to recognize and protect the rights of composers and intellectual works. The current law assigns such rights to producers and this eliminates many stakeholders in the industry.
