The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has assumed control of the security for Pastor Bugingo Aloysius until further notice.
Colonel Fred Mwesigye, the head of operations in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, announced this during the Sunday service at Canaan Church.
Mwesigye disclosed that the UPDF is now responsible for security at Canaan Church, Pastor Bugingo's residence, and all his offices, including the Salt media offices in Rubaga.
"I am Colonel Fred Mwesigye, the head of operations in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. I come to mourn with you for the deceased member and thank God for giving Pastor Bugingo a second chance at life. I am here to assess the security at this Church, and I can confirm that we are in control at the residence and the offices. I want you to remain calm, and I assure you that we will do everything to ensure your safety," Colonel Mwesigye stated.
Mwesigye's comments follow days after Pastor Bugingo survived an assassination attempt that resulted in his driver's death due to gunshot wounds.
