Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has strongly refuted allegations made by Canadian-based blogger Senga Acid, claiming he is involved in an extramarital affair with Sheila Gashumba.
A video circulating on social media shows Tayebwa in Parliament addressing the matter, asserting that his name is being tarnished by Senga Acid and warning that she will face serious repercussions for her actions.
"I saw some lady circulating a video alleging that I’m having an affair with a celebrity woman in town. She seemed serious, presenting it as breaking news. I found out that she is doing this because she is hiding in Canada. My wife was the first to send it to me. Senga Acid is in Canada, on TikTok, authoritatively speaking about someone whose number I don’t even have and someone I’ve never spoken to," he explained.
Tayebwa further noted that he is not the only target of Senga Acid’s allegations, adding that another Member of Parliament has also been subjected to her claims.
"She has also made allegations against another MP. I sent him a message saying, 'They have also added you.' And now, because TikTok pays, people are desperately looking for content. This individual, Senga Acid, attacks people in Luganda, yet she is a Mukiga from Kabale," he added.
The Deputy Speaker warned that Senga Acid will face serious consequences for her actions. He emphasized that being in Canada does not grant her immunity and that she will be held accountable if she sets foot in Uganda.
Earlier in January, Senga Acid alleged through her social media platforms that Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa was involved in an extramarital relationship with Sheila Gashumba.
"Sheila Gashumba has decided to be part of the Deputy Speaker's beautiful family. Mr. Tayebwa Thomas and Sheila Gashumba are engaging in an affair day and night," Senga Acid claimed in a TikTok video posted on January 2nd.
Senga Acid is well-known on social media for her controversial gossip and inflammatory claims.
